Muse z novo ploščo dokazujejo več stvari. Prva je ta, da brezčasnih, udarnih rokerskih skladb, kot so Time is running out, Plug in, baby ali Stockholm Syndrome, ki so jih postavile na rokerski piedestal 21. stoletja, ne znajo, ne zmorejo ali preprosto ne želijo več ustvarjati. Pred nami je progresivna plošča 13 skladb, ki zvenijo, če lahko malo pretiravam, kot da jih je posnelo 13 glasbenih skupin. Supremacy zveni kot še ena bondovska skladba (le kdaj jim bodo zaupali naslovno pesem?), Survival (uradna himna letošnjih OI v Londonu) je tako udarna in apokaliptična, da je že kar smešna, Madness (drugi singel) pa je njeno totalno nasprotje s svojim minimalističnim sintetizirajočim zvokom ter vokalnim aranžmajem in kitarskim solom, ki se sicer lepo pokloni velikima vzornikoma skupine Muse, Freddieju Mercuryju in Brianu Mayu. Nekaj queenovskega vsebuje tudi pesem Explorers, kaj so mislili, ko so dobro nastavljeno balado Follow me ter Unsustainable preoblekli v dubstep, pa je verjetno jasno samo njim. 
Kdor bo dobro prefiltriral to zvočno megalomanijo in besedila o teorijah zarote, bo ugotovil, da Muse pravzaprav najbolje zvenijo, ko so iskreni, bodisi v ljubezenski Big Freeze, ki zveni kot U2 iz osemdesetih, ali v Save me, presežku plošče, v kateri se ob prečudoviti glasbeni spremljavi o svojih alkoholnih demonih preteklosti izpoje drugi glas zasedbe, basist Chris Wolstenholme. Eden vrhuncev plošče je tudi ne preveč resna Panic Station, nekakšen nafunkiran power-pop s pridihom 80ih, ki malo spomni na njihov veliki groovy hit Supermassive Black Hole.
Muse vsekakor še ni zmanjkalo kreativne energije, čeravno je ta malce bolj razpršena kot včasih. Slišati je tudi, da se zabavajo in da se z leti krepi njihov tipični britanski smisel za humor, saj takšne plošče ne bi izdala skupina, ki bi se jemala preveč resno. Izdelek je daleč od presežka, a enako daleč od tega, da bi ga proglasili za slabega.
